Just received 400w solar blanket and I thought I'd put it to the test on a dark overcast rainy day here in Kent. (today 4/9/25) My previous solar panel was 160w portable Ecoflow, immediate contrast, the blanket is half the weight, smaller and more compact and more than double the Watts. I had deliberately run my 1024wh Delta 2 down to 2% specifically for the test to see how the blanket performed. From 10am laid blanket outside and it was cloudy and overcast was getting 30-60w. Started raining shortly after and it got a good wetting, brought it in conservatory and laid on the flow wiped off the water, and got 23w. Rain stopped and took it back outside. First hour Delta 2 went from 2% to 5.3%. but after the first hour it brightened up. 2nd Hour it's upto 12.3% and I hung it on our fence. 3rd hour it's upto 24% , sun is partially coming out, i'm starting to see 320-340w from the blanket (with sunshine) . 4th hour Delta2 is upto 43% max 343w from blanket, from alternating overcast and watery sunshine. 5th hour Delta 2 is upto 60% and sun is starting to appear properly, blanket briefly touched 380w then 394w ! 6th hour suns gone back in and largely cloudy overcast only getting 60w-200w but Delta 2 reaches 71% . 7th Hour cloudy and variable 60-330w and I ended reaching 83% on a distinctly poor day (typical British weather day) for solar panels. Very impressed as it proves I can recharge the Delta 2 and in bright sunshine I believe I could charge from 0 to 100% in under 5 hrs.
Complaints : It was a bit windy and I hung the blanket from 3 of it's loops from screws I put in the top of the fence. I also pegged down the bottom part. I had also laid it flat for a time and pegged it out. Several of the loops pulled out, didn't seem particularly strong. Not an issue I will sew them back stronger .
Conclusion: I got this specifically for the Delta2 in our motorhome and the test is poor conditions has given me complete confidence that the blanket is a good recharge method whilst camping. The small size and small weight is an added bonus.
